Frequently asked questions
General information
What is ACCRUE?
ACCRUE is a non-custodial stablecoin yield-optimization platform. It aggregates leading USDC yield strategies across the largest onchain markets into one clean interface. With ACCRUE, you can choose your optimal strategy and earn yield in real time.
Do I need to create an account?
No. ACCRUE requires neither account creation nor KYC. Simply connect an Ethereum-compatible wallet and start depositing immediately.
Which wallets are supported?
ACCRUE supports all major Ethereum wallets, including MetaMask, Coinbase Wallet, Rainbow, Ledger, and any WalletConnect-compatible wallet.
Where is ACCRUE available?
ACCRUE is available globally. We do not offer strategies that are restricted for U.S. users.
What is a virtual assistant?
The ACCRUE Virtual Assistant is an AI-powered chat assistant built into the platform. It can answer questions about yield strategies, explain how individual vaults work, help you understand risks, and guide you through the platform. You can access it via the Virtual Assistant tab in the vault section.
Yield strategies
What yield strategies does ACCRUE offer?
ACCRUE lists 12 USDC markets across Ethereum and Base. Core lending markets include Aave v3 and Compound v3 USDC supply markets. Curated markets include Steakhouse Prime USDC, Gauntlet USDC Prime, Steakhouse High Yield USDC, and Gauntlet USDC Frontier. You can deposit into individual markets or through a portfolio diversified across multiple markets.
What are model portfolios?
Model portfolios are pre-built allocations across several ACCRUE markets, designed to match different risk profiles. ACCRUE offers three — Foundation, Core and Growth — on each supported blockchain, six in total. The weights are identical on Ethereum and Base. Each portfolio holds a fixed allocation across its underlying markets, and its displayed APY reflects the weighted average of their current supply APYs.
How are model portfolios constructed?
Each model portfolio is a fixed-weight allocation across four ACCRUE markets on a single blockchain, with identical weights on Ethereum and Base. Foundation holds Aave 50%, Compound 30%, Steakhouse Prime USDC 10% and Gauntlet USDC Prime 10%. Core holds Aave 30%, Compound 10%, Steakhouse Prime USDC 30% and Gauntlet USDC Prime 30%. Growth holds Aave 20%, Steakhouse Prime USDC 20%, Gauntlet USDC Prime 40% and Steakhouse High Yield USDC 20%. The weights are risk budgets, not market views: no weight derives from a yield, a utilization reading, a TVL figure or a rate forecast. Total Steakhouse exposure equals total Gauntlet exposure in every portfolio, because curator failure is the dominant idiosyncratic risk in curated vaults. Aave is weighted above Compound wherever both are held, reflecting the deeper USDC market. The core lending allocation is monotone across tiers at 80% / 40% / 20%, with curated exposure making up the balance. A deployed portfolio’s composition is immutable: ACCRUE cannot re-weight a portfolio you are already in, and there is no admin function that moves a user position. A new set of portfolios is deployed alongside the existing ones with a new symbol, and nobody is migrated.
Do model portfolios rebalance?
ACCRUE model portfolios maintain fixed allocations and do not rebalance. Portfolio weights remain fixed, while the displayed blended APY updates continuously to reflect current supply rates across the underlying vaults. This is an intentional design choice. Rebalancing adds value in traditional portfolios by capturing returns from assets whose prices diverge over time. That dynamic does not apply to onchain USDC lending: every position is denominated in the same asset, eliminating price dispersion between holdings, while differences in supply rates across ACCRUE’s lending markets tend to remain narrow over time.
Can I build a custom portfolio?
Yes. The Custom Portfolios tab lets you set your own weights across the markets available on your chosen chain, and deploys a portfolio vault that is yours. A custom portfolio holds any two or more of the markets on that chain, up to all six. The vault contract caps a portfolio at six components, which is every market ACCRUE lists on a chain, so the cap does not bind in practice. The minimum of two is a product rule: a one-market portfolio is simply that market, but charged at the 0.50% portfolio rate instead of the 0.25% standalone rate, so deposit into that market directly instead.
How do I compare yield strategies?
You can compare available yield strategies in the Compare Vaults tab. You can also use the Yield Calculator to estimate the yield you can earn from any available strategy, or ask the ACCRUE Virtual Assistant any questions you may have about yield strategies.
How is APY calculated?
ACCRUE reads supply rates directly from the underlying protocol contracts every 15 minutes; it does not use third-party data aggregators. The headline figure on each market card is the 7-day realised rate, because that is closer to what a depositor actually earned than a spot reading. The market detail view shows the spot, 7-day and 30-day figures side by side, each labelled. Spot and 7-day come from the same readings and differ only by window, so they can disagree by a few tenths of a percentage point. Past performance is not indicative of future results.
What is the minimum deposit?
Each vault enforces its own minimum deposit in its contract, and the current amount is shown before you confirm. Minimums are determined based on factors such as network costs.
Which portfolio should I choose?
Which portfolio you choose depends on your risk profile and financial goals. ACCRUE does not assess your financial circumstances or provide financial advice. You should review each portfolio’s strategy, risk factors, and underlying exposures before making your own decision.
Stable Rate
What is Stable Rate?
Stable Rate lets you lock a known yield for a set period — either on a vault position you already hold, or by depositing directly into a new locked position. Your shares and your principal stay in the vault. ACCRUE covers the difference between the Stable Rate and what the vault actually earns, from its own capital. You can withdraw at any time; ACCRUE never locks a position.
Is my principal guaranteed?
No. ACCRUE does not hold your principal or guarantee its repayment. Your USDC remains in the underlying vault and is subject to the risks of that protocol. If the underlying market loses value, that loss is yours. ACCRUE’s obligation is limited to the rate-support amount specified in the program terms.
How is the Stable Rate set?
The rate is set from a deliberately conservative measure of the vault’s own realized returns over recent history, built so that it cannot be moved by short-term rate spikes or by transfers into the vault. ACCRUE takes a percentage of that measure as its charge for carrying the risk, which is why the rate offered is set below what the vault is currently earning.
Can I lock only part of my position?
Yes. You enter an amount, and the rest keeps floating in the same vault. Nothing is withdrawn and nothing is redeposited. New deposits are floating and do not join an existing term.
What happens if I exit before the end of the term?
You receive the lower of your Stable Rate or your actual yield so far, and the position closes. Exiting early always pays less than holding to the end, at every possible moment, so there is no timing advantage in it.
Who settles the position, and can ACCRUE interfere with it?
The vault contract settles it. The rate, term and maturity are fixed when you lock and cannot be changed by anyone afterwards, including ACCRUE. No ACCRUE key can move your shares, pause your exit, or alter what you are owed. The amount ACCRUE can owe on a position is capped in the contract and is set aside when the position opens.
Which vaults offer Stable Rate?
The twelve standalone vaults, on both chains, subject to each vault having enough history to quote and enough capacity. Model portfolios and custom portfolios do not offer it: a portfolio blends several markets, and the rate is measured against a single market’s own returns.
Is Stable Rate available now?
Not yet. Rates are published so you can see what is coming, and locking opens once the reserve that backs it is funded. Until then a vault card shows the rate with the term marked as not yet open.
Stablecoin Yield Index (SYX)
What is the Stablecoin Yield Index (SYX)?
SYX is a TVL-weighted benchmark for conservative USDC yield across the largest onchain lending markets on Ethereum, Base, and Arbitrum. You can view the SYX index at accrue.cc/index.
What is the difference between SYX, SYX-7, SYX-30, and SYX-90?
SYX is published in four series that share the same components and TVL-weighting methodology, varying only by time window. SYX (or "SYX spot") is the current value, reflecting real-time market conditions. SYX-7 is the 7-day TVL-weighted average, reducing the impact of single-day fluctuations while still reflecting near-term market conditions. SYX-30 is the 30-day average, providing a balanced view of prevailing yield conditions while reducing the impact of short-term volatility. SYX-90 is the 90-day average, showing where rates have settled over the most recent quarter and indicating longer-term trends.
Which markets are included in SYX?
SYX currently includes eight components: the Aave v3 USDC markets on Ethereum, Base and Arbitrum; the Compound v3 USDC market on Ethereum; and the Morpho v2 curated Prime USDC vaults from Steakhouse Financial and Gauntlet on Ethereum and Base. Compound v3 on Base and Arbitrum is tracked but carries no index weight, because neither market clears the liquidity threshold. SYX excludes structurally distinct, higher risk products, which carry materially different risk profiles.
Why is SYX weighted by TVL?
Weighting by total value locked makes SYX an accurate reflection of onchain USDC yield: each market’s influence on the index is proportional to the capital deposited in it. Index component weights adjust automatically as deposits shift across protocols and blockchains. There are no fixed allocations.
How often does SYX update?
Every 15 minutes, USDC yield data is pulled directly from Ethereum, Base, and Arbitrum RPC nodes. Morpho USDC yield is calculated from realized share-price growth over the most recent one to two hour window and updated every 15 minutes. SYX does not rely on any third party data aggregators, avoiding exposure to external outages, rate limits, or methodology changes.
Security
Is ACCRUE non-custodial?
Yes. ACCRUE is fully non-custodial. You interact directly with the vault contracts on Ethereum and Base, and the withdrawal path is immutable contract code that no ACCRUE role can pause, block or redirect. ACCRUE never holds, controls, or has access to your funds at any point. That guarantee is about ACCRUE: a withdrawal still depends on the underlying protocol releasing the funds, and Aave, Compound and Morpho each have their own controls that ACCRUE cannot override.
Are ACCRUE smart contracts audited?
Not yet. An independent audit is scheduled before public launch and the report will be published here when complete. Until then, treat ACCRUE contracts as unaudited. The underlying protocols ACCRUE routes to — Aave v3, Compound v3 and Morpho — are independently audited, but that is a statement about them, not about ACCRUE.
What are the risks of using ACCRUE?
Past performance is not indicative of future results. Stablecoin yield strategies involve risks, including loss of funds, liquidity constraints, smart contract vulnerabilities, counterparty risk, and regulatory uncertainty. Yields are variable and not guaranteed. Never deposit more than you can afford to lose.
What happens if an underlying protocol is hacked?
ACCRUE is a software intermediary and does not insure against protocol-level exploits. If an underlying protocol such as Aave, Compound, or Morpho experiences a security incident, funds deposited in that vault may be affected.
Fees
What does ACCRUE charge?
ACCRUE charges a single platform fee: an annual rate on the principal you deposit. Single-protocol vaults are 0.25% per year at any size. Model and custom portfolios are 0.50% per year, reducing to 0.25% above $1,000,000. There are no deposit fees, no withdrawal fees, no management fees, and no performance fee — the yield you earn is entirely yours.
How is the platform fee calculated?
It is calculated on your deposited principal, not on your yield, and accrues per second while the position is open. For example, $100,000 held in a single-protocol vault for one year incurs $250. At a 4.0% APY that position also earns roughly $4,000, and all of it is yours. Because the fee is charged on principal, it applies whether or not the position earns yield.
When is the platform fee charged?
It is deducted automatically from your USDC when you withdraw, so you never make a separate payment. The amount is whatever accrued between your deposit and your withdrawal, and it is netted from the proceeds in the same transaction. The rate is also capped at 2.00% per year by a constant in the vault bytecode that nobody — including ACCRUE — can raise.
Are there any other costs?
Network gas fees apply to all onchain transactions, including deposits and withdrawals. Gas is paid to the network, is entirely outside ACCRUE control, and varies with congestion. It is typically a small fraction of the Ethereum cost on Base. Gas is payable by you.
Can I pay network fees in USDC instead of ETH?
Yes, with supported wallets. Network fees can be paid in USDC instead of ETH, so you don’t need to hold ETH to deposit or withdraw, and the fee is shown before you confirm. Smart-contract wallets such as Safe cannot pay network fees in USDC and always pay in ETH. If your wallet doesn’t support it, a small amount of ETH covers network fees — on Base, typically a cent or less per deposit.
Do underlying protocols charge fees?
Some underlying protocols charge their own fees, which are already factored into the APY displayed on ACCRUE. The rates shown on each vault card are net of any underlying protocol fees.
Bridging USDC
Can I move USDC between Ethereum and Base on ACCRUE?
Yes. The Bridge USDC tool, at the top of the Tools menu, moves USDC in either direction between Ethereum and Base. It is a convenience for users who need USDC on a specific chain for a deposit.
What does ACCRUE charge to bridge?
Nothing. ACCRUE takes no fee, no spread, no markup and no commission on bridging. The only amounts involved are Circle’s own transfer fee, which you choose and which can be zero, and the network gas you would pay for any transaction.
How much does bridging actually cost?
Standard transfers are free and typically settle in 15 to 20 minutes. Fast transfers settle in about 20 seconds and cost a fraction of a basis point. Both fees and estimated settlement times are fetched from Circle when you use the tool, not hardcoded, so what you see is what you pay.
Who actually moves the money when bridging?
The bridge runs on Circle’s Cross-Chain Transfer Protocol: your USDC is burned on the source chain and native USDC is minted on the destination by Circle, the issuer of USDC itself. ACCRUE provides the interface and nothing else — it holds no key, operates no liquidity pool, and never takes custody.
Can I bridge ETH or other tokens?
No. The bridge moves USDC only, between Ethereum and Base only. Transfers are irreversible once signed, and USDC sent to an address you do not control cannot be recovered by ACCRUE or by Circle.
Swapping to USDC
I hold USDT, not USDC. Can I still use ACCRUE?
Yes. The Swap to USDC tool in the Tools menu converts USDT, USDS, DAI, ETH or WETH into USDC, on Ethereum or on Base. The USDC arrives in your own wallet and you deposit it afterwards as a separate step. Swapping on ACCRUE is optional — USDC you acquire anywhere else works exactly the same.
What does ACCRUE charge to swap?
Nothing. No swap fee, no spread and no markup. Two real costs are involved and both are shown before you sign: the fee charged by 0x, which appears as its own line next to the expected amount, and the network gas any transaction costs.
Who actually executes the swap?
0x aggregates decentralized exchanges on each chain and finds the best available route. You sign the transaction to 0x’s settlement contract. ACCRUE holds no keys, operates no liquidity pools, sets no prices, and never takes custody. USDC is delivered directly to your connected wallet.
Why is the amount I receive different from the amount quoted?
The figure shown is an estimate at the moment of the quote; the final amount is computed when you confirm in your wallet, and prices move in between. The swap is submitted with a tolerance of 0.50%, so it cannot execute at a rate more than half a percent worse than quoted — it reverts instead.
Why only these five assets?
USDT, USDS, DAI, ETH and WETH were chosen for depth against USDC on Ethereum and Base specifically. Assets with no usable route on Base are left out, as are synthetic stablecoins that are not fiat-backed. The list is fixed server-side, so the tool cannot be pointed at arbitrary tokens.
Technical
What blockchain does ACCRUE use?
ACCRUE vaults are deployed on Ethereum and Base. All vaults are ERC-4626 compliant smart contracts. The SYX index separately tracks markets on Ethereum, Base and Arbitrum.
What is the ERC-4626 standard?
ERC-4626 is an Ethereum standard for tokenized vaults. It defines a common interface for yield-bearing vaults, making them composable, auditable, and interoperable across DeFi. By using ERC-4626, ACCRUE ensures all vaults follow a consistent set of rules for deposits, withdrawals, and accounting, improving transparency, security, and integration with other protocols.
Can I withdraw at any time?
Yes. ACCRUE imposes no lock-up periods and no ACCRUE role can pause, delay or redirect a withdrawal. Some underlying protocols have their own withdrawal conditions — a curated Morpho vault can be short of immediately available liquidity, for example — and those are disclosed on each market detail page.
What deposit token does ACCRUE accept?
ACCRUE accepts USDC as the deposit token across all vaults. Deposits are supplied directly to the underlying protocol (Aave, Compound, or a Morpho curated vault) and you receive ERC-4626 vault shares that accrue yield.
