ACCRUE documentation
Platform overview
ACCRUE is a non-custodial stablecoin yield-optimization platform designed for both humans and AI agents. It provides a unified interface to the largest onchain lending markets across leading DeFi protocols, enabling users to access yield opportunities without navigating each protocol individually. ACCRUE also offers model portfolios tailored to each user’s risk profile, stable rates for each lending market, and risk-management tools.
ACCRUE acts solely as a software intermediary. It never holds user funds. All deposits flow directly from user wallets into the underlying protocol smart contracts via ERC-4626 compliant vault contracts.
Key properties: non-custodial, so ACCRUE never holds your funds; permissionless, with no account creation or KYC required; transparent, with all positions verifiable onchain; and composable, built on the ERC-4626 vault standard. ACCRUE currently integrates with Aave, Compound, and Morpho, including the Steakhouse and Gauntlet curated USDC vaults and Morpho v2 Prime USDC strategies.
Technical architecture
The ACCRUE platform is composed of ERC-4626 vault smart contracts that provide standardized access to underlying yield-generating strategies. Each yield strategy is represented by an ERC-4626 compliant vault contract. When a user deposits USDC, the vault contract routes the funds to the appropriate underlying protocol and mints vault shares proportional to the deposit.
APY data is sourced directly from onchain protocol state. TVL is calculated from each vault’s totalAssets() value. All data displayed on ACCRUE is derived from onchain sources and can be independently verified.
Stablecoin Yield Index (SYX)
The Stablecoin Yield Index (SYX) is a TVL-weighted benchmark for conservative market yield available to USDC holders across major institutional-grade onchain lending protocols, published at accrue.cc/index. The index is calculated directly from canonical smart contracts rather than third-party data aggregators, and covers the most liquid USDC supply markets on Ethereum, Base, and Arbitrum.
Index composition: SYX consists of eight components — the Aave v3 USDC markets on Ethereum, Base and Arbitrum; the Compound v3 USDC market on Ethereum; and the Morpho v2 curated Prime USDC vaults from Steakhouse Financial and Gauntlet on Ethereum and Base. Compound v3 on Base and Arbitrum is tracked but carries no index weight, because neither market clears the liquidity threshold. Prime USDC vault deposits are combined into a single weight per chain. SYX excludes structurally distinct, higher-risk yield sources.
How each value is read: Aave v3 USDC APY comes from the reserve currentLiquidityRate and TVL from the aToken total supply; Compound v3 USDC APY comes from the Comet supply rate at current utilization and TVL from total market supply; Morpho v2 Prime USDC APY comes from realized share-price growth over a graduating six-hour to seven-day window, with TVL from vault totalAssets.
Index series: SYX is published in four series that share the same components and TVL-weighting methodology, varying only by measurement window. SYX (spot) is the current TVL-weighted yield across all components, refreshed every 15 minutes from live contract reads. SYX-7, SYX-30 and SYX-90 are the 7-day, 30-day and 90-day rolling averages of the spot value, calculated as a simple time mean over the trailing window.
Data validation: if a data source becomes temporarily unreadable it is excluded and the remaining components’ TVL weights are renormalized to 100%, then automatically re-included when the source returns. Each new reading is validated against the last known good value. If an entire polling cycle fails, the index continues to display the most recently verified value alongside an "updated X ago" timestamp.
Open data: the live value is available as JSON at accrue.cc/api/index and the full methodology at accrue.cc/api/index/methodology. All figures are independently reproducible from public contracts on Ethereum, Base, and Arbitrum.
Standard vaults
Each standalone vault wraps exactly one underlying market. A deposit into the Aave vault becomes an Aave supply position and nothing else is held. ACCRUE lists 12 such markets across Ethereum and Base. All accept USDC. The ACCRUE fee on a standalone vault is 0.25% per year at any size.
Core lending markets: Aave v3 USDC on Ethereum and Base supplies USDC to Aave v3, one of the oldest and most battle-tested DeFi lending protocols, redeeming on demand up to available market liquidity. Compound v3 USDC on Ethereum and Base supplies USDC to the Compound III (Comet) USDC market, a long-running audited onchain lending protocol. Both carry smart contract and counterparty risk.
Curated Prime vaults: Steakhouse Prime USDC and Gauntlet USDC Prime, both on Morpho v2 and both available on Ethereum and Base, are curated USDC vaults allocating across vetted lending markets. Both carry Morpho smart contract risk and curator allocation risk.
Curated high-yield vaults: Steakhouse High Yield USDC and Gauntlet USDC Frontier, both on Morpho v2 and both available on Ethereum and Base, target higher returns with broader market exposure and carry greater allocation and market risk in pursuit of that yield.
Liquidity on curated vaults: curated Morpho v2 vaults do not report a maximum withdrawable amount the way a lending market does, so a figure derived from your position value can name more than the vault can deliver in a given block. ACCRUE therefore quotes your withdrawable amount by simulating the withdrawal rather than trusting that number. Nothing is at risk when the estimate is wrong — the transaction simply reverts, your funds remain in the vault, and your position continues earning.
Model portfolios
ACCRUE offers six model portfolios: three risk tiers — Foundation, Core and Growth — on each of Ethereum and Base, with identical weights on both chains. Foundation holds Aave 50%, Compound 30%, Steakhouse Prime USDC 10% and Gauntlet USDC Prime 10%. Core holds Aave 30%, Compound 10%, Steakhouse Prime USDC 30% and Gauntlet USDC Prime 30%. Growth holds Aave 20%, Steakhouse Prime USDC 20%, Gauntlet USDC Prime 40% and Steakhouse High Yield USDC 20%.
The weights are risk budgets, not market views. Total Steakhouse exposure equals total Gauntlet exposure in every portfolio, Aave is weighted above Compound wherever both are held, and the core lending allocation is monotone across tiers at 80% / 40% / 20%. A deployed portfolio’s composition is immutable and portfolios do not rebalance; the displayed blended APY moves, the weights do not.
Custom portfolios
The Custom Portfolios tab lets you set your own weights across the markets available on your chosen chain and deploys a portfolio vault that is yours. A custom portfolio holds any two to six of the markets on that chain. The fee is 0.50% per year on principal, reducing to 0.25% above $1,000,000.
Stable Rate
Stable Rate lets you lock a known yield for a set period — either on a vault position you already hold, or by depositing directly into a new locked position. Your shares and your principal remain in the underlying vault, and ACCRUE covers any difference between the Stable Rate and the vault’s actual earnings from its own capital, retaining the excess when the vault earns more. You can withdraw at any time; ACCRUE never locks a position.
What you get and what you give up: you get a known yield for a known period, and you give up yield above the Stable Rate, which is what funds protection when the vault earns below it. Your principal is not guaranteed and remains subject to the underlying protocol’s risks.
Principal is not guaranteed. ACCRUE does not hold your principal or guarantee its repayment. If the market loses value, the loss is yours, and the Stable Rate is paid on top of whatever the position is then worth. ACCRUE’s obligation is limited to the rate-support amount specified in the program terms.
How the rate is set: from a deliberately conservative measure of the vault’s own realized returns over recent history, built so that it cannot be moved by short-term rate spikes or by transfers into the vault. ACCRUE takes a percentage of that measure as its charge for carrying the risk, which is why the rate offered is set below what the vault is currently earning.
Terms: thirty days. Longer terms are not offered, because the capital held against a position grows with its length while the charge does not, so past a few months a longer lock cannot be priced at a rate anyone would want.
Locking part of a position: you enter an amount, those shares move into the Stable Rate position, and the rest keeps floating in the same vault. A later deposit is floating and does not join an existing term. Withdrawing takes floating shares first; reaching locked value means ending that term early, which is offered as its own action with the difference shown rather than happening silently inside a withdrawal.
Ending a term early: you receive the lower of your Stable Rate or your actual yield so far, and the position closes. This is always less than holding to the end, so there is no timing advantage to look for. The shares return to floating inside the same vault, and reaching your wallet still requires a separate withdrawal.
Settlement: the vault contract settles the position. Neither side executes it and neither side can avoid it. The rate, the term, the maturity date and the most ACCRUE can owe are all fixed when you lock and cannot be changed afterwards by anyone, including ACCRUE. No ACCRUE key can move your shares, pause your exit, or alter what you are owed, and the amount ACCRUE can owe is set aside when the position opens. A settled position can never reduce the amount you locked.
If a vault stops behaving normally: a vault can suspend on conditions anyone can check onchain, such as an abnormal move in its share price, deliverable liquidity below a set level, or a change to the vault or its rate model. You are then paid the Stable Rate accrued to the last good reading, and nothing accrues after it. Your shares stay yours. Nobody at ACCRUE can declare a vault suspended.
Which vaults offer it: the twelve standalone vaults, on both chains, where the vault has enough history to quote and enough capacity. Model portfolios and custom portfolios do not offer Stable Rate, because a portfolio blends several markets and the rate is measured against a single market’s own realized returns.
Capacity and availability: each vault shows how much can still be locked, and the limit comes from the markets a vault lends into rather than from ACCRUE. Rates are published prior to the opening of the locking window. Until the reserve supporting the product is funded, the vault card displays the rate with the term indicated as not yet open.
ACCRUE costs
ACCRUE charges a single fee: an annual rate on deposited principal. Nothing else. The platform fee is 0.25% per year for single-protocol vaults at any position size, and 0.50% per year for model and custom portfolios, reducing to 0.25% above $1,000,000. There is no performance fee, no deposit fee, no withdrawal fee and no management fee.
How the fee works: it is charged on the principal you deposited, not on the yield you earn. It accrues per second while your position is open and is deducted from your USDC at withdrawal, so there is never a separate payment to make. Because it applies to principal, you pay it whether or not the position earns — this is the trade for a rate roughly an order of magnitude below a typical performance fee. For example, $100,000 held in a single-protocol vault for one year incurs $250; at a 4.0% APY that position earns $4,000, all of which is yours. A portfolio is charged once, at the portfolio level, so there is no double-charging at the layer you do not touch.
The fee ceiling is immutable: the maximum ACCRUE rate is fixed at 2.00% per year as a constant in the vault bytecode. Whatever rate the fee schedule proposes, each vault clamps it against that ceiling before applying it. No ACCRUE role and no governance action can raise it. Rate changes are strictly prospective and are never applied retroactively.
Network fees: gas fees are required for all onchain transactions, are paid to the network, are outside ACCRUE control, and vary with network conditions. Gas on Base is typically a small fraction of the Ethereum cost. Network fees can be paid in USDC instead of ETH with supported wallets, so you do not need to hold ETH to deposit or withdraw. Smart-contract wallets such as Safe cannot pay network fees in USDC and always pay in ETH.
Protocol fees: underlying DeFi protocols may charge their own fees. These are factored into the displayed APY figures, so the rates shown on ACCRUE already reflect them.
How to deposit
Step 1 — connect your wallet. ACCRUE supports MetaMask, Coinbase Wallet, Rainbow, Ledger, and any WalletConnect-compatible wallet. Make sure you are connected to Ethereum mainnet or Base, whichever chain the vault you want is on.
Step 2 — ensure you have USDC. ACCRUE accepts USDC as the deposit token, on the same chain as the vault. You also need a small amount of ETH on that chain to pay network fees, unless your wallet supports paying them in USDC.
Step 3 — choose a vault. Browse the market grid and filter by risk level or strategy type. Click any market to view its detail page including APY, protocol breakdown, and risk analysis. Or choose one of the six model portfolios, or build a custom portfolio across any two or more of the markets on that chain.
Step 4 — deposit. Click Deposit on any vault, enter your USDC amount and confirm the transaction in your wallet. The transaction requires two steps: USDC approval and the deposit itself.
Step 5 — earn yield. Yield begins accruing immediately after your transaction is confirmed onchain. You can monitor your positions in your portfolio dashboard.
ACCRUE security
ACCRUE’s contracts are not yet audited. An independent audit is scheduled before public launch and the report will be published when it completes. Until then, treat the ACCRUE contracts as unaudited. The underlying protocols ACCRUE routes into — Aave v3, Compound v3 and Morpho — are independently audited, but that is a statement about them, not about ACCRUE.
What ACCRUE cannot do: because ACCRUE is non-custodial, it has no ability to access your private keys, reverse transactions, move your funds without your signature, or prevent withdrawals. The withdrawal path reads no state that any ACCRUE role can set — no pause check, no blocklist, no allowlist — so a full compromise of every ACCRUE key still could not stop you exiting.
What ACCRUE cannot promise: that guarantee is about ACCRUE and is not a claim about the underlying protocols. A vault holds a position in Aave, Compound or Morpho; if that protocol will not release funds, neither can the wrapper around it. Aave reserves and Compound markets each have a pause guardian outside ACCRUE’s control, and curated Morpho vaults can be short of immediately available liquidity. This is disclosed rather than engineered away.
Immutability: the vault contracts are not upgradeable. There are no proxies anywhere in the custody path, so the code holding your funds is the code that was deployed and cannot be replaced. Adding a market means deploying a new vault, never modifying an existing one.
Bridging USDC
The Bridge USDC tool moves USDC in either direction between Ethereum and Base over Circle’s Cross-Chain Transfer Protocol: your USDC is burned on the source chain and native USDC is minted on the destination by Circle, the issuer of USDC itself. ACCRUE provides the interface and nothing else — it holds no key, operates no liquidity pool, and never takes custody.
ACCRUE charges nothing to bridge: no fee, no spread, no markup, no commission. The only amounts involved are Circle’s own transfer fee, which you choose and which can be zero, and network gas. Standard transfers are free and typically settle in 15 to 20 minutes; fast transfers settle in about 20 seconds and cost a fraction of a basis point. Fees and settlement times are fetched from Circle when you use the tool rather than hardcoded.
The bridge moves USDC only, between Ethereum and Base only. Transfers are irreversible once signed, and USDC sent to an address you do not control cannot be recovered by ACCRUE or by Circle.
Swapping to USDC
ACCRUE vaults accept USDC only. Swap to USDC, available from the Tools menu, converts a holding you already have into USDC. It accepts USDT, USDS, DAI, ETH and WETH, on Ethereum or on Base, and the USDC arrives in your own wallet — not in a vault. Depositing is a separate step you take afterwards.
A swap is not a bridge. A swap exchanges one asset for another on a single chain; a bridge moves the same asset between chains. To convert USDT on Base into USDC on Ethereum you would swap on Base, then bridge the USDC.
ACCRUE charges nothing: no swap fee, no spread and no markup. Two costs are genuinely involved and both are disclosed before you sign — the fee charged by 0x, and the network gas fee. Routing and pricing come from 0x, which aggregates the decentralized exchanges on each chain and returns the best route it finds. You sign a transaction to 0x’s own settlement contract. ACCRUE holds no key, operates no pool, quotes no price of its own, and is never an intermediary in the transfer.
Expected amount: the figure shown is an estimate at the moment of the quote, and the final amount is calculated when you confirm in your wallet. Because prices can move in between, the swap uses a 0.50% tolerance and will not execute at a rate more than 0.50% worse than quoted; a swap that would breach that reverts rather than filling at a price you did not approve.
Liquidity differs by chain. Depth on Base is thinner than on Ethereum for several of these assets, and a large amount can convert materially below par there while a smaller one converts at close to it. ACCRUE measures the rate on every quote: if a stablecoin is converting below about 99.5 cents on the dollar the interface says so, and beyond roughly 98 cents it does not offer the swap at all and suggests a smaller amount or the other network.
Why these five assets: USDT, USDS, DAI, ETH and WETH were chosen for depth against USDC on the two chains ACCRUE runs on, rather than for headline market capitalization. Assets with no usable route on Base are deliberately absent, as are synthetic stablecoins that are not fiat-backed. The list is fixed on the server, so the tool cannot be turned into a general-purpose router for arbitrary tokens.
